History of Chandragiri Fort

A small village named Chandragiri comes in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. In this small village, the temple built a fort in 1000 AD.

For three centuries, Chandragiri was under the control of Naidu and in 1367 he went into Vijayanagar's possession. When Saluv Narasimha Rayaloo came to power, the significance of Chandragiri was increased.

The great King of the Vijayanagar empire, Krishna Deviaraya knows all but some events of his life are not known to all. A similar incident that is directly related to this Chandragiri fort and King Krishna Deviya. It is up to the point that when Raja Krishnadevaraya was small, he lived in this Chandragiri fort until he grew up, and incident happened in this fort on one side connected to his life.

His first wife was married in this fort. Both of them first met in this fort.

Chandragiri was the fourth capital of the Vijayanagar empire and when Sultan attacked Panukonda, Krishnadevaraya made Chandragiri the capital.

In 1646, the fort of Chandragiri went under the control of Golconda and later Mysore captured it.

From 1792 onwards, no one has paid attention to this fort and slowly everyone forgets this fort. Chandragiri fort has now taken the form of a big archaeological museum.

Architecture of Chandragiri Fort

This fort is completely built in the beautiful architecture of Vijayanagara. The big and the upper columns of this fort are reminiscent of Hindu architecture. Stone, It, Chosen were used to make this fort, but no wood was brought into use while making it.

This fort looks completely beautiful due to its being in a dense forest, as well as any trekking can be done by Yahapar. This fort was located in the eastern valley. The most important thing about this fort is that the fort has been built in this fort which has now become part of the archaeological museum.

There are more than 800 temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva from all sides of this fort, but now all the temples are completely destroyed. But even today there are some relics of King Mahal and Rani Mahal. Near the fort, there is a golden river and the origin of this river begins with this.

From the way: From all types of vehicles to the fort, it can be easily reached from the road. Tirupati can be reached by state road and national route. Many buses of private vehicles and APSRTC can be reached from this fort.

By train: Rail service has been provided to all the cities of the country to come. Tirupati Railway Station is in the closest distance and is only 17 km away.

From Airplane: From Tirupati Airport you can easily reach this fort. This fort is only 22 km away from the airport. There are also facilities for buses to come here.
