Early life of Shiv Kumar Batalvi:

        Shiv Kumar 'Batalvi' was a renowned poet of Punjabi language, who is best known for those romantic poems, in which there is an excellent depiction of the pain of emotions, compassion, separation and lover. In 1967 he became the youngest literary person to receive the Sahitya Akademi Award.         Shiv Kumar was born on July 23, 1936 in the village of Big Pund Lohatiya, Shaktargarh tehsil (now in the Punjab province of Pakistan), the revenue department of village tehsildar Pandit Krishna Gopal and Housewife Shanti Devi. After the partition of India, his family moved to Batla, in Gurdaspur district, where his father continued his work as Patwari and Bal Shiva got primary education.
