Naina did an MBA from Howell Business School after graduating from economics from Shimla, (Himachal Pradesh) and graduating in Economics from University of Delhi. After starting his career with 'Standard Chartered Bank' in 1982, he worked for some days at Morgan Stanley Bank and then joined HSBC.

Naina was born in India in the year 1957. His early school education took place in Shimla city.
